RITENGO CHE SIA DOVERE DI CHIUNQUE E A MAGGIOR RAGIONE DI NOI ITALIANI, FARE DI TUTTO PER PROMUOVERE, SALVAGUARDARE E DIVULGARE L'ARTE IN TUTTE LE SUE ESPRESSIONI.
UNA SOCIETA' DISTRATTA SUI FATTI DELL'ARTE E' UNA SOCIETA' VOTATA ALL'IMPOVERIMENTO... E NOI, DA QUESTO PUNTO DI VISTA, LO SIAMO GIA' ABBASTANZA!

SINGING HAIR (CANTANDO CAPELLI)
Solo Show Silvia Mei
dal 17 ottobre 2013
GALLERY MOLLY KROM
53 Stanton Street
New York
10002

Singing Hair (Cantando Capelli) is the first exhibition in the United States for this young Italian artist, whose work has attracted serius attention from art critics, curators and collectors in Italy. Silvia Mei graduated of Brera nel 2012. Her most recent exhibit Rough Thoughts, took place earlier this year at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan. She lives and works in Milan.
The work created for this exhibition i s for the most part a dedication to artist's partner Roberto and her sister Daniela. For Silvia Mei painting is experienced as a song, a melody that streams at the viewer through the paper. paper becomes a receptacle and a record of her artistic process with all the finds and discoveries, but also with all its accidents and "spills". This exhibition is conceived as an uninterrupted and unending hymn to what she refers to as a "dark deep matter within oneself", , a substance that is in equal measure revolting and intimate. Hair, being a symbol of one's animalism, become an extension of this matter. As something that takes roots within us, the strands become an image of sincerity.
"In these paintings the hair is a link, both physical and emotional,to the people I love".
